1. Overview
Fridgely ("Fridgely," "we," "our," or "us") is a mobile application that helps users identify ingredients from refrigerator images, generate AI-powered recipes, calculate nutritional and macronutrient information, and discover recipes tailored to their dietary preferences and health goals.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and what rights you have in relation to it. It applies to all users of the Fridgely mobile application ("App") and the website fridgely.app.
Fridgely is operated from Turkey and complies with applicable Turkish data protection law (KVKK — Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data) as well as internationally recognised privacy standards.
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account information — your name, email address, and password when you register.
- Profile information — display name and optional avatar.
- Dietary preferences — meal types, diet types (e.g. Halal, Vegan, Kosher), and macro goals you configure.
- Fridge contents — ingredients you add manually or via the camera scanning feature.
- User-generated content — recipes, comments, and any other content you create or share within the App.
- Support messages — communications you send to our support team.
2.2 Images and Food Data
When you use the fridge scanning feature, your device camera captures an image of your fridge or food items. This image is transmitted to our AI provider (Anthropic) for real-time ingredient identification.
You should be aware that:
- Fridge images may incidentally capture contextual visual information beyond food items.
- Images are processed in real time for ingredient extraction and are not permanently stored on our servers after processing is complete.
- Identified ingredient lists (not raw images) are stored in your account to power recipe suggestions.
- We may use anonymised, non-identifiable usage data to improve the accuracy and performance of our AI systems. Raw fridge images are never used for this purpose.
2.3 Automatically Collected Data
- Device information — device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
- Usage data — features you use, recipes you view, scan frequency, and how you interact with the App.
- Crash logs and diagnostics — error reports and performance data to help us identify and fix issues.
- Approximate location — inferred from IP address for legal compliance and regional service delivery. We do not collect precise GPS location.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the data we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide core App features — fridge scanning, AI recipe generation, macro tracking, and dietary filtering.
- To personalise your experience — tailoring recipe suggestions to your dietary preferences, health goals, and fridge contents.
- To manage your account and subscription — processing payments securely and maintaining your account.
- To improve the App — analysing usage patterns to fix bugs, optimise performance, and develop new features.
- To improve AI accuracy — using anonymised, aggregated data to improve ingredient recognition and recipe quality. This never involves identifiable personal data or raw images.
- To ensure safety and prevent abuse — monitoring for misuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To provide customer support — responding to your questions and resolving issues.
- To comply with legal obligations — meeting requirements under Turkish law and other applicable regulations.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
To deliver Fridgely's features, we work with the following trusted third-party providers. Each provider processes your data only as necessary to perform their specific function.

5. Recipe Sharing and Public Content
Fridgely allows users to create and share recipes and other content within the App. You should be aware that:
- Any content you mark as public or share within the App may be visible to other Fridgely users.
- Do not include personal or sensitive information in content you share publicly.
- You retain full ownership of the content you create.
- By sharing content within the App, you grant Fridgely a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, and distribute that content solely within the Fridgely platform. We will never sell or license your content to third parties.
- You may delete your shared content at any time. Deletion from public view is immediate; residual copies in backups are purged within 30 days.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Specifically:
- Account and profile data — retained until you delete your account.
- Fridge scan images — deleted immediately after ingredient extraction is complete. Not stored.
- Ingredient and recipe data — retained while your account is active and deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Payment records — retained for 7 years as required by Turkish tax and commercial law.
- Support communications — retained for 2 years to maintain service quality records.
- Anonymised usage data — may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to any individual.
To request deletion of your account and all associated data, contact support@fridgely.app. We will action your request within 30 days.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- With service providers — as described in Section 4, only to the extent necessary to deliver the service.
- For legal compliance — if required by Turkish law, court order, or other legal obligation.
- For safety — to prevent imminent harm, fraud, or abuse of the platform.
- In a business transfer — if Fridgely is acquired, merged, or its assets are transferred, your data may transfer to the successor entity. We will notify you at least 30 days in advance.
8. International Data Transfers
As a Turkish company using service providers based in the EU, US, and UK, your personal data may be transferred internationally. All such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards:
- EU-based transfers (Supabase) — covered by GDPR adequacy mechanisms.
- US-based transfers (Anthropic, Stripe, Google) — protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
- UK-based transfers (TheMealDB) — subject to UK GDPR equivalent protections.
9. Your Rights
Under Turkish law (KVKK) and internationally recognised privacy standards, you have the following rights:
- Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to deletion — request deletion of your personal data and account.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact support@fridgely.app. We will respond within 30 days. You will not face any penalty or loss of service for exercising your rights.
If you believe we have not handled your data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Authority of Turkey (KVKK — kvkk.gov.tr).
10. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:
- Encrypted data transmission — all data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
- Secure database storage — Supabase with Row Level Security ensures users cannot access each other's data.
- Access controls — strict internal policies limit who can access production data.
- Regular security reviews — our infrastructure is reviewed periodically for vulnerabilities.
No system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact support@fridgely.app immediately. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by applicable law.
11. Children's Privacy
Fridgely is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in Turkey and the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below these ages.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data to Fridgely, please contact support@fridgely.app and we will delete the data promptly.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes:
- We will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
- We will notify you via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before changes take effect.
- For significant changes affecting your rights, we may request your renewed consent.
Continued use of the App after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
